Greenwood is a village found in western Kings County in the beautiful Annapolis Valley. The village as of 2001 had a population of roughly 4500 people. It is surrounded by agricultural lands and didn’t really take off population wise until the Royal Air Force established a base there in 1942. The airport and village have been expanding for the past 40 years or so as several smaller air force bases in eastern Canada closed and were centralized in Greenwood. The village has a good mix of young and old people. Young people of course get posted to the area to serve in the air force. The beauty of the area, and the friendly Annapolis Valley people, encourage people to return to Greenwood as a location to retire following their time in the service.
The Greenwood Mall is the biggest shopping center in the western portion of the Annapolis Valley and is of course located in Greenwood.
